Fashion Friday:: Restyling and Mixing Prints...

Happy Fri-YAY my friends!

I know it was only a few short posts ago when I debuted this maxi skirt with the matching top, but  I couldn't wait to get back to it!

In all honesty, I was a little weary of it at first. While the skirt/shirt combo was a hit, my other idea for it was definitely not! I don't know about you, but when a pairing I am really excited about and counting on doesn't turn out as well in actuality as it did in my head, it discourages me. I find myself thinkng well, now what? Do I really want to keep something that I can only style one way? Is it really worth it?

If I can just fight through the discouragement or even step away from the project for a little bit I can usually come up with something great!

Which brings me to this post. This is the first of three pairings -other than the skirt/shirt combo- that I'll be sharing with you. I love to mix and match prints! What makes this combination work are the colors. The yellow hue of the skirt compliments the lighter blue of the shirt.

Mixing prints sounds like it can be tricky, and it was a little for me when I first started blogging. But it get easier the more you do it. You develop an eye for it, I think at least. It is supposed to be fun, don't over think it.

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!!

Happy Monday my friends!

Just a quick post for today!

This is a very casual look that came to me by accident, kind of! I love this shirt dress from Shein.com. I have styled it once before here. I love the versatility of it. It can be dressed up for a sexy, laid back look. Or it can be dressed down -like I did for today's post- and look just as chic.

Initially I was planning on pairing it with a denim jacket, but apparently I am in the market for a new one. I noticed that when trying it on for this shoot my current -and very old- denim jacket has been worn in about as much as it can bear I'm afraid, and I will have to retire it. So, in much search for something to replace it, I found this light weight sweater.

I loved the colors together, but I didn't really like the way it looked on with the dress. So, on a whim I tied it around my waist. Its isn't a look I sport a lot, but I do like it. And I like the effect it has with this outfit.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Well with September starting tomorrow -where did August go!?!- I have fall on the brain!

Fall is by far my FAVORITE season! I love the cooler temps. I love the leaves changing colors. I LOVE Halloween! Fall in general has a comforting feeling for me. I don't know how to explain it. It just makes me feel warm inside!

Which is why today I am sweating a little to share a fall inspired look with you.

I love how structured, and yet, effortless this look is. It is pretty basic as far as colors go -and of course I love the pop of color the Versona bag provides.

It has a sophisticated feel to it, but it is still fun and stylish. You could wear it straight from the office to happy hour if you wanted.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Happy Day:: Last of the Summer Posts...

Hello and Happy Monday!

Happy Labor Day!

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!

This is one of my final summer posts. I am eager to move into fall and the wonderful fashion that comes with it. In my mind September is the first month of fall (I know that is not technically how the seasons are defined, but in my mind that's how it works lol).

But sadly the heat is still lingering and I can't bear to wear more layers even if it is just for a post. I need something stylish and functional for everyday wear now.

Which is how this look came to be. You may recognize the print from the Who. What. Wear collection at Target. I've used the skirt twice now, here and here. But this is the first time I've styled the top as a separately. The style for this is pretty simple. I basically styled around the shirt.

Other than the denim shorts -which offer a more casual feel- I tried to keep the other colors within the same color family. It flows nicely together and is a great last look for summer!

Thrift Shopping:: Bold, Printed Scarf...

Hello and Happy Friday!!

Do you believe in love at first sight? I definitely do! When I first saw this scarf maybe two years ago (give or take) at a thrift shop, there was no hesitation. I knew I had to have it.

And it has been love ever since!

Okay, I realize I'm probably slightly nuts for wearing a scarf while it is still pretty warm out, but bear with me! For almost a month now, this scarf just kept screaming at me every time I opened my closet. And to be quite honest, I was exhausted this afternoon after work. So, why not let this beauty do the work today? Heat or no heat!

Plus the colors just fell together so beautifully and the styling was simple and comfortable!

I wish I could tell you more about where this scarf came from but I really don't know. I found it at a Goodwill -I have found many, many great scarves there, in fact some of my favorite scarves have come from Goodwill.

There are definitely some deals to be found by shopping at Goodwill and other thrift shops. I used to go there all the time as a way to relax and detach I could spend hours scouring the racks for a great dress, shirt, or skirt. And more times than not I would find something in great condition. Sometimes I did come out empty handed, but when I scored I really scored! I believe I also heard once that on Thursdays in particular certain stores donate the items that didn't sell to Goodwill. I believe Target is one of those stores!

So keep an eye out!

Thank you so much for reading!

City Chic:: Leopard Print and Fortune Cookie Clutch...

Happy Monday!

Today's look is fierce! As you probably already know, I have a deep love for leopard print. From shoes, to bags, to shirts, and now dresses, I really do love leopard print! That print in particular adds character to outfits and a level of fierceness -like with this dress.

It was easy to style; the dress was the focal point and I added a belt to define my waist and my lovely
fortune cookie, Versona clutch for an additional chic touch.

This look makes me feel like I should be walking around in NY, holding important meetings, sitting in the front row at Fashion week -which has been incredible from what I have seen so far!

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Grey Days:: Wide Leg Pants, Printed Tee...

Hello and Happy Friday to all!

I am experimenting for the first time with wide leg pants!

I tend to stay away from this trend because I feel like it makes me look shorter  somehow. But I found this pair of pants and I couldn't resist!

Since it is kind of a gloomy day, I styled casually with a grey graphic tee. What I love about this look is that while it is a bit more on the casual side -and super comfy!- throw a blazer on and you have a more professional look. Throw a denim jacket on and you have a great look for a lunch or dinner date. Add a scarf and a cross-body bag and you have a great look for running errands or shopping.
The possibilities are endless!

As we brace for the hurricane this weekend, please stay safe everyone!

Hello, Happy Monday! And Hello Mr. Sun!

We made it through Florence! For my end it was just a lot of rain and at times some strong winds. I know other places, even those right nearby, got it worse so I'm certainly keeping them in my thoughts and prayers!

I was anxious to get outside today though, but since its still muddy and wet, I decided to keep things casual today. Going forward with my fall fashion integration. I have had this sweater for.... I don't even know how long, its been a few years! But its just so perfect!

This look is so effortless and comfortable. I also enjoy pairing structured pieces -lilke this H&M bag- with looser, less structured pieces like the sweater.

The booties also capture the fall theme I'm going for.

Please continue to be safe out there and thank you so much for reading!

Devil In a Blue Dress:: Target Tie Dress, Circle Bag....

Happy Fri-YAY!

I am so ready for the weekend! I'm ready to sleep in and be a little lazy! Although funny enough, I had a number of ideas for blog outfits this afternoon which I will work on this weekend.

Today, I am wearing Target from head to toe! (Okay, minus the earrings). This beautiful navy tie-dress is from their new line, Prologue. I am excited to check out more from it when I go back. I splurged a little (D=) on my impromtu shopping trip -no thanks to Vikee (Designer Diva lol)- but I am pretty pleased with what I got.

This dress is so simple and yet so flattering. The color is so elegant and the details are charming.

The circular bag is another piece I got on my trip. I have been admiring these style of bags for a while, but had not yet taken the plunge and got one myself. The way it looked against the dress is what really sold me on it.

And finally the shoes. I LOVE these shoes! They actually were not my original plan for this dress, but then I happened to see them and my plans changed quickly! =)

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Guys, I'm excited! I don't know why exactly, I just have so many ideas going on for posts and future projects that has reinvigorated my love for blogging and for fashion.

I had a great weekend! I stopped by one of my favorite boutiques -Grace boutique- which is where I picked up this awesome bag. It can be worn as a cross body bag -like I styled it for this post- or it can be carried as a clutch. I have been quietly obsessed with the clear bag look for a while. There is something about it that is charming. I had been looking -with not much luck- for awhile for a clear bag and then this weekend I FINALLY found it! I carried it to church the same night and fell in love very quickly!

I am especially pleased with how well it looks with this sweatshirt dress from Target. They go together so perfectly! Effortlessly! I saw this dress at Target the other night on my impromptu shopping spree and could not resist! Its unbelievably comfortable and so easy to pull off with these white sneakers.

I really hope you enjoy this look! And if your in the shopping mood, go check out Grace Boutique -everything is 50% off through the end of the month!

Thanks so much for reading!

Hello and HAPPY OCTOBER 1ST!!!

I LOVE October! I LOVE Halloween! I just bought myself a spooky crawling zombie and may go back for a screaming skull....

Anyway, fresh off of Charlotte Fashion Week, I am feeling incredibly inspired! I believe I said that right before fashion week as well! But now my inspiration is in full swing! I have met so many incredible people and have ideas for blog posts, and while I am exhausted, it has been worth it!

Today I felt like channeling that inspiration through this look. Structure meets whimsical with this ensemble!

Next post I am going to share some of my looks from fashion week!

Happy Monday!

One of the most classic pieces a lady can own is a little black dress! This is a relatively new piece to my closet but it is absolutely stunning! I found this gem at Grace Boutique and would you believe that I almost passed it up?!

On the hanger it did not necessarily catch my eye, but I decided to give it a try anyway. And I am SO glad I did!

This dress is immaculate from top to bottom, especially when it is on. From the way it hugs my curves to the subtle rouging down the front the dress, creating texture. And of course the minimal yet incredibly effective mesh cut outs at the top and bottom of the dress. It is a knock out!

I wore it to the kick off event for Charlotte Fashion week! It was a social event at The Vue (a condominium in uptown Charlotte). It was an incredible night, preceding an incredible week of fashion events and shows. This particular night was a great chance to meet different people from designers, to models, to photographers, to the producer of the show, Rita Miles, herself. I got to hang out with Designer Diva for the first time in a long time and meet a new friend and designer as well, Vinny!

It was an incredible evening with some incredible evening! I cannot wait to show you more of my fashion week looks!

TGIF!! Finally!!

It has been a long week! Exciting things happened, a hurricane came through, and work wore me out! I am thoroughly enjoying my day off! Not only that but I am also enjoying these cool temps! -FINALLY!

To celebrate I styled this fall-like outfit. The deep orange color of the skirt really encompasses the fall season. Of course I couldn't wait to break out a sweater (I thought about boots too but it is still a little too warm.)

Of course a pop of blue to make the look really pop!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more fall looks!! =D

Fashion Week Part 2:: Jimmy Choo Made to Order!

Happy Monday my Friends!

This outfit I wore to the second day of Fashion Week and while I am recreating it for this post, I love it just as much!

This is such a beautiful look. It has structure as well as a flirty, feminine vibe as well!

This particular event was to celebrate the Jimmy Choo Made-to-Order services. That's right, you can now customize your very own Jimmy Choo shoes or bags! The event was held at Nordstroms in South Park Mall. It was a beautiful night complete with photographers, champagne, and a beautiful display showcasing some of the most beautiful Jimmy Choo shoes and bags I've seen!

The only downside was I couldn't take them all home with me ;)

Cool Running:: Experimenting with Fall Fashion...

Hello all!

Whew! It has been a busy week this past week! It was great but it was very busy! My Aunt came to town and apparently never runs out of energy -which I LOVE about her! We all were able to hang out, shop, laugh, watch some scary movies, and have maaaannny late nights together and I loved it!

But this Monday was a smack back into reality! It was a rough work day, and in all honesty I wasn't ready for this particular blog post. I usually like to prepare a blog post in advance but sometimes it doesn't work that way.

This is a perfect example of experimenting with fashion. I have had this Shein sweater for a year now and I LOVE it! But it is an over-sized sweater so it can be overwhelming sometimes. I decided to try a belt with it -which I have done before here- but this particular time I opted for a smaller belt and a dark color theme.

The result I personally LOVE! It really made my day. I love it when a look comes together! It took some time and some restyling  -several times!- but I really do love the outcome! Style is all about being creative after all!

By the way, the sharp booties are from my Aunt! Thanks Aunt Sherry! It was awesome having you here! Come back soon!!

Thanks so much for reading

Happy Monday!

And HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I know we are two days away, but the spirit of Halloween has hit me hardcore! From the movie marathons, to the spooky decorations and costume shops, to the haunted houses! There is something so amazing about Halloween!

I'll keep this one short. I hope you enjoy this spooky post!

Thanks for reading!

Special thanks to my Mom and my Aunt who helped me out with finding this costume! Love you guys!!

Bright, Crisp Fall Colors...

Happy Friday!!

And what a week it has been! I am exhausted! And very much looking forward to the weekend!

I LOVE this look today. It embraces so much of what I love about fall/winter; coats, booties, sweaters, and even the beautiful fall colors. This coat I found from Shein.com (of course!) and I am in love! It has more of an coral/orange color to it than I expected it to, but that almost makes me love it more.

It reminds me of back when I was taking college classes a few years ago and I would purposefully always take this particular route because there were so many big trees with long branches and they were turning colors about this time. And driving down that particular road felt like you were driving in a yellow/orange tunnel. It was so beautiful! I just love this time of year!

The booties are another new addition to my closet. They are from Versona and in all honesty were kind of an impulse buy. I just saw them, loved them, and splurged! I think the plaid print gives them a more sophisticated look. I have a wide-leg jumpsuit that I can't wait to pair them with.

I hope you enjoy this post! Thank you so much for reading!

Sunday Simplicity:: Easy Fall Look...

Hello all!

I realize I am posting this on Monday but I actually wore this yesterday. I got some pictures for my post yesterday, and I ran a few errands in this. I have actually worn this once before too. I wore it when I early voted last Friday. And boy it was THE perfect outfit for that. Last Friday was cold and rainy but this outfit was perfect for it!

Not only is it warm and cozy, but it is very comfortable! It was perfect for an early Sunday morning too.

What I love about it is that it is easy to pull off. The hoodie under a coat is so effortless. I just paired it with leggings and booties. And just like that you have a comfy, chic look!

It is certainly a look that I will be rocking this fall/winter season!

I hope you enjoy it too!

Don't forget to go vote tomorrow!

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day...

Happy Friday!

On rainy, cold days like today, I enjoy bringing in more color to contrast the gloomy mood.

That is why I am restyling this lovely, printed skirt from the Who, What, Wear collection at Target. I have restyled it a few times before and it continues to be one of my favorite pieces.

It is bold, fun, and feminine. It certainly brightens up my day! Since it is certainly much chillier than it has been lately -and about time!- I paired it with a faux leather jacket (a gift actually from my sister!), booties, and a layered necklace (both gifts from my Aunt!)

I love finding ways to pair typically summer time pieces as fall/winter pieces. Anytime you can wear a piece all year round, that is a good investment!

I'm pleased with how this look came out!

I hope you like it as well!

XOXO
