Restyling Mondays:: The Return of the Furry Sleeves!

$

Hello all!

And welcome to Monday! Today I am restyling a favorite sweater of mine, the sweater with the faux fur sleeves!

This time I opted for an all black ensemble to not take away from the sweater. It is a relatively simple look, but the all black base really takes it to the next level.

And of course a small pop of color, and voila! Your good to go!

I mentioned in the last post about a conference I was going to over the weekend. The Masterminds of the Industry Conference. It was an afternoon full of inspiring speakers and women supporting and getting to know each other. There were four speakers total. They spoke on topics ranging from women's empowerment to spiritual awakening to relationships to fiscal responsibilities. It was great! It was really a great afternoon! I went with my good friend, Vicki (designer diva) and met several new friends. It has me very inspired for what the future holds!

Thank you so much for reading!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today I want to share with you a fun adventure my mom and I went on a few weeks ago! I know I am a little late sharing, but I still wanted to share this with you.

My mom had heard about this exhibit at the Mint Museum that was a collection of designer gowns and fabulous fashions on the radio and told me about it. So two weeks ago we set out in search of this glamour!

It was great evening from start to finish. We started with dinner and wine and then headed to the museum.

The gowns were unbelievable! So many different styles, cuts, designs, textures, fabrics... and even a suit worn by our own Cam Newton -complete with diamond studded loafers! There was a dress that was worn by Michelle Obama and designed by Jason Wu. Apparently Jason Wu was a design student when he created this gown that Michelle Obama picked. How cool is that!? He designed several gowns for her as well.

There was a wedding dress that was completely unconventional. It was floral printed with a high-low hem. Its a unique take on a wedding dress.

I posted some of my favorite designs below, check them out and let me know what you think!

Thanks for reading!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Okay, I was a little misleading with this title. I'm not actually blonde, but I DO feel like this is the kind of outfit Elle Woods would certainly embrace! I read an article where Reese Witherspoon talked about why she wanted to play the character of Elle Woods. She refered to Elle as "very strong and driven." And, if you watch the movie, that is true. She went to Harvard for a guy, but worked hard and continued to work hard even when it wasn't easy.

Something about that makes me reflect. Of course its just a movie, but in life we always have obstacles that are challenging and sometimes they are exciting, sometimes they are scary/hard. But the point is to not give up on what it is you are working towards.

On to the fashion! Today I am styling a great dress from K LA Boutique. I was in love with the sleeves, they really make the dress great! That extra detail adds so much character to the look. I tried to keep everything else relatively simple -minus the necklace, I know it is bold but it works so well with this look!

Check it out and let me know what you think! Also, don't give up on what you are working towards! ;)

Hello all! Happy Monday!

I hope you are all having a great start to the week so far.

Just a quick post for today. I have had all of these pieces for a while, the dress is probably the newest piece. They are all simple in style -although I love the drape-y design of the trench vest and the sophistication of the bag- but when combined together they really create a high impact look.

Its chic and perfect for date nights or girls night out or brunch!

Funny enough, this entire look -minus the shoes- is Forever 21. I didn't realize it until I was writing this post!

Hello and Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend! It has been feeling so nice today! Spring will soon be upon us! I'm excited, I always am. I love the changing of the seasons. I am looking forward to warmer temperatures.

For today's look I chose one of my all time favorite tops paired with some red trouser pants. This top can really elevate any look with the lovely belle sleeve feature. It is airy and a perfect transition piece into spring. Its a dramatic pairing but I love it! It has a chic feel to it.

While I love this look, it doesn't photograph as well as I would have liked and though I edited them a lot, many of the pictures just weren't what I had hoped for. The highs and lows of blogging. :)

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Well ladies, and guys too!- I'm embarking on a quest! A quest to purge my closet! I will admit this is very challenging for me. I have things I LOVE! I don't want to let them go.. but lets be honest. Some things are just collecting dust in my closet. I want to remove those things.

Now, this will be no easy feat but I'm determined to make this happen!

I have always had a rule; if you can't find three ways to wear it, let it go.

Easier said than done.

This post is me beginning my quest. This skirt I am pretty sure I love. I have found a few ways to wear it already. The shirt, however, I have had for a long time! It was a thrift store find! I love the details of the sleeves and the collar, its so unique! That is one reason I have kept it for a while. Its just a special piece to me.

This top is my part one of weeding out my closet!

Stay tuned for me! And feel free to experiment with your clothes. Maybe jump outside the norm, who knows what can happen!

Happy Monday!

I'm kicking the week off by having a little fun with fashion!

I'm continuing the purging of my closet with this striped pen skirt. Actually both pieces are repeats that I really love. The skirt is obviously the bolder of the two pieces. The skirt -from Target- is one of my favorite pieces because of the boldness. It has such character!

This is actually my third post restyling this skirt. This is a tad bit more casual look. The graphic sweatshirt adds a unique touch. It continues the black and white theme while also keeping me warm -which has turned out to be very important today!

I think I may keep these two pieces around just a little longer, what do you think?

Stay warm today! And thanks for reading!

Hello all!

I hope you had a great weekend. I did! It was busy for sure but it was great! I went to a fashion show with my good friend and fellow blogger, Designer Diva. I worked, and worked out, and then -finally- Sunday afternoon I rested! It was great!

I'll tell you more about the show in a future post!

For today's post Its been feeling amazing outside! And I am taking full advantage of it! I paired this airy striped blouse with a pair of shorts and mules for a fun, chic, and breezy look that is great for spring. It has a chic feel and I really love the effect of the vertical stripes and the points of the mules. It has a lengthening effect. Which I love!

Here's hoping this weather holds out!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned! =)

Hello and Happy Friday!

My favorite time of day is the mid to late afternoon typically. I get off of work around 2 and then hit the gym with my friend. We have some good conversation and laughs and sweat a bit too! And then I go home feeling good and healthy, and enjoy the rest of the night. However, today was one of those days where it was hard to force ourselves to go. Not only is it beautiful outside, but also we are free for the weekend! Ahh! The temptation to just leave and start our weekend early was great!... BUT we persisted anyway. And it was worth it, as always.

For today's post, I'm sharing with you a gorgeous maxi dress from Shein.com! I love the beautiful colors and print of this dress! Its' bold and beautiful. The dress has other bold features like the bell sleeves, and the choker neck design. Its' quickly become one of my favorite dresses, perfect for summer!

Thank you so much for reading! See you Monday! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!!

And it finally feels like spring!! While I won't get my hopes up quite yet, I will enjoy this beautiful weather!

I really love today's post! It is a very simple style. Denim shorts and a button down shirt. Easy to style and easy to wear! I played around with accessories today. I added somewhat subtle touches with a subtle, peak-a-boo statement necklace and printed Versona clutch. Then of course a print pop of color, with the Charles David mules.

I really like this look! Its a casual yet stylish look. I really enjoyed it. All of these pieces I've had for a while and I love finding new ways to wear things!

Thanks for reading and the support! And have a great weekend!

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good. I was able to relax and get some stuff done as well. Win, win!

Today's look -the continuation of the red mules- was not planned. Granted, I love these shoes, but I did not even think about having used in them in the last post, when I began planning this post. Actually, it got really chilly here in the QC over the weekend. Cold and rainy, which threw a wrench into my original post idea.

Sunday morning, I just wanted to be warm and comfortable. So I pulled this look together. Every piece is a repeat -with of course the jacket and the shoes being the most recent. It started with a little mixing and matching and I really liked the leopard print against the dark jacket. But, it just felt a little too dark so I threw the shoes in to add a bright pop of color. It was kind of on a whim, but I really loved the way it turned out!

It turned out to be really comfortable, warm, AND stylish!

Thanks for reading!  Have a great week!

Hello all!

Sorry for the brief break!

Today's post was tricky with the weather. It was rainy and cold! Which threw my first idea for a post out of the window. So after work today, I'm pressed for time, trying to find an appropriate look for today.

Thankfully I have this over-sized sweater that keeps saving my butt! It is so cute, warm, and does not fall victim to the reign like some of my suede pieces do.

The overall look really embraces this rainy Monday. Easy, comfortable, and versatile.

This sweater is a beautiful piece from @graceboutique and I've used it a few times since I found it. If you  haven't been there, I highly recommend checking it out! Its a great boutique with a wide range of stunning pieces! Not to mention the owner, Grace, is amazing too!

I hope you check out her page and thank you so much for reading!

Hey all and Happy Friday!

So two weeks ago Beyonce performed at Cochella weekend 1. I am a HUGE, HUGE Beyonce fan. So I, even though I had to work early the next morning, set an alarm so I could watch Beyonce's performance. No regrets! Not a one! Beyonce was amazing! Breath taking! This woman WORKS!

Her performance inspired me. I have been making more moves lately. I will have more to share later, but it is stepping out of my comfort zone and I am excited to share the result with you soon!

But on to today's post. I love this look! It is easy to style and to wear. It was an outfit I planned out in my head and ended up loving once I tried it on!

Part of my adventure for this post was trying a new place to post. For those who don't know, I usually take my own pictures. Which can be troublesome at times but, as I said, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and finding new places to take pictures.

Thank you so much for reading! And stay tuned! There is more to come!

Hello and Happy Monday!

For today's post I am repeating different pieces. From the LOFT shorts and tee, to the Goodwill scarf, of course the Versona bag and wedges. This look is the perfect spring look! It is easy to wear/style and breezy. It stands strong in this strange transitioning period.

Personally I love the shirt and shorts pairing as a kind of neutral palette, against which you can have all sorts of fun styling! For today, I chose this wonderful yellow printed scarf, and coral colored bag to match. Easily you could switch up the scarf and bag for different scarves or bags or even different accessories.

The wedges I have not used in a while and I hate that. They are such great pieces! Comfortable, easy to wear, easy to walk in, easy to style... what is not to love?!

Again, I am trying to go through and either find different uses for pieces of get rid of them. These wedges are definitely goin to be kept!

You might also notice the orb in every.. single. picture. Guys, I can't explain this one.

I thought at first I might need to clean my camera lens... which I did. Maybe it is part of a lighting thing... it could be that too. I've never had the issue before, but I'm still a newbie when it comes to photography.

I personally am a huge fan and believer in the supernatural. As silly as this may sound, I choose to believe this orb is one of my grandparents rooting me on. Maybe even one of my residents -I work at a retirement home full time. Personally, I love that idea.

Whatever it maybe, I'm willing to embrace it as part of my journey.

Thank you for reading what I'm sure sounds like a crazy lady ranting!

XOXO

Night of Elegance:: Oscar de la Rent Exhibit...

Hello all, and Happy Friday!

Today I have a special post to share with you! This past Wednesday, Designer Diva (Vicki) and I set out on another adventure together! This time it was to the Mint Museum to see the fantastic, Oscar de la Renta exhibit!

Oscar de la Rent is well known and very much celebrated in the fashion world for his talent and his imaginative designs that included classy day wear dresses as well as glamorous evening gowns. Coupled with his ability to evolve with the changing times and seasons -his career spanned over five decades!- made him one of the most sought after designers!

I was amazed by the display on Wednesday! It was remarkable! I really enjoyed his use of various textures, layers, and fabrics.

Most of the night, I fantasized what it would be like to wear one of these fabulous gowns. They are all so elegant, its no wonder he is a highly sought after designer! Of course, many of his designs have been worn by various celebrities, but he also designed gowns for first ladies, Laura Bush and Hilary Clinton.

When he passed away in 2014, he was remembered by countless celebrities, designers, friends, fans, and of course, his family.

The exhibit will run until early July if you are interested in checking it out!
(Psst! On Wednesday nights, it is free admission!)

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! =)

Hello all! Happy Friday!

It has been a busy week! Today I'm running on roughly four hours of sleep. That is why today, I have been taking it easy. I mean that is what Friday is all about, right?!

For today's post I'm sharing with you another purchase from one of my all time favorite online boutiques, shein.com. I've ordered from the site many times! What I love about them -aside from their stylish clothing and accessories and reasonable prices- is their customer service. They are really great about returns, and communicating with them is easy. Which is a huge plus for me, because sometimes that can be the most frustrating thing about online shopping.

This particular dress caught my eye because of the fun graphic on it. It is an easy dress to wear and style. Today I kicked it up a notch with heels and some pattern play, which creates a great Friday look. Whether it be running errands or a lunch date, even a girls night out or date night.

I also think it will be fun to pair it with tie-up flats or sneakers, maybe booties and a leather jacket -in the fall of course! I'm very excited to find other fun ways to style this dress.

Thank you so much for reading and have a great weekend! =)

VillHello all!

What a great start to the week! Yesterday we celebrated our mothers! I'm so thankful for my mother! She supports me, challenges me, and makes me think about things in a different light too. We had a great afternoon together, hanging out and eating an amazing meal.

Later, we ventured to the park with our dogs (if you knew our dogs, that was certainly a venture! While I love them dearly, they tend to freak out at the sight of other people or animals..... sigh...) BUT they did surprisingly well! AND we saw a mini horse!! I kid you not! A mini horse!!

Ahh, I digress! On to the post!

About two weeks ago I went on a photo shoot with Ryan Smith or Rain World Photography. We headed up to Ballantyne Village for the shoot, which is a beautiful location. Although rain was in the forecast that day, we set out anyway. It was overcast but we made it work.

It ended up being one of the most fun shoots I've had in a while! We got some great shots of this off the shoulder LOFT dress.  It has become a summer staple piece in my closet. There is plenty of ventilation and it is easy. I recently wore it out with nude pumps for a different look.

Thank you so much for reading and a huge shout out to Rain World Photography for the amazing shoot!

Have a great week! =)

Hello all! Happy Friday!

I hope you all had a great week!

Today's post is a fun look I came up with earlier today. When planning my blog posts, sometimes I will have one look in mind -which I did today- and I put it together and end up not loving it. This can be frustrating, although many times -also like today- it ends up with a look I really love!

Sometimes it takes some time and failed attempts but I usually end up finding something that really speaks to me!

This particular look serves not only as a stylish summer look, but a cool one too!

Literally!

With temps already hitting upper 80's, its very important that outfits be breathable/ventilated!

This pleated midi skirt (seen here) from Grace Boutique, is a staple in my closet! Its so elegant and chic, I love finding new ways to style it! For today, I mixed it with a velvet top from Old Navy, and found the contrast in textures very charming.

And, while I love the shades of blue, I wanted to throw a little bit of additional color in the mix. So I chose this Shein.com bag, for a warm, neutral balance.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great three day weekend!
